These are the Causes of Herpes Infections

Herpes is an infection that puzzles many people. Some are infected and yet do not know that they have the virus. It is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus and takes 2 to 14 days to clear. It may clear on its own or one can seek medical attention.The cold sores are a type of infection caused by this Virus. It presents itself as a sore and can infect the nose, lips, chick, chin or any part of the face. The cold sores are highly contagious and one could be infected by simply sharing a cup, lip balm or simply pecking an infected person. There are two stages of these infections; the Primary stage and the Recurrent StagePrimary stage:  This is the stage when the virus has entered into the body and the skin may itch, burn or tinge. After this, a blister forms on the skin and during this stage, one is usually very careful not to break the blister. However accidents do happen and the blister gets accidentally pricked causing the fluid to ooze out. During this stage one has to be careful with the sore sport as one can easily get other infections. The crust falls off and the skin heals gradually.Once the skin has healed, there is no scar left on the skin whatsoever. The virus however remains in the body. It remains dormant in the nerve cells.Recurrent Stage:  People react differently and although to some people the infection may never recur, some get some recurrence. This stage is not as bad as the primary stage. Usually, it is very mild. As mentioned above, the Simplex Virus remains in a dormant state in the nerve cell. It is usually triggered by;1. Stress2. Fatigue3 Menstruation4. Fever5. Injury to the affected areaGenital Herpes is also another infection that is caused by Simplex Virus 2. This is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). One can get it through sexual intercourse or through oral sex. Though use of latex condoms could lower the risk of transmission, this may not be 100% safe because the area around the genitals could be infected and could not have been covered by the latex condom. One usually  experience some itching around the genital or anal area. One may get a minor rash and also experience a burning sensation while passing urine.This can also be contagious through sharing of towels with infected persons. Pregnant mothers can pass the infection to her unborn baby during child birth. It is therefore advisable to inform your doctor if you are suffering from this infection in order for the doctor to take precaution during the birth of your child. Anybody and everybody can be infected with Herpes. Those under life threatening risk of getting infected are those suffering from AIDS and those who have had an organ transplant. We can minimize the risk of getting Herpes by observing good hygiene and boosting our immunity systems.
