Herpes lips : Cold sores also called fever blisters. Cold sores are caused by a viral infection that attacks the skin and nervous system. They are sometimes confused with impetigo, which usually develops between the nose and upper lip. Fluid that weeps from impetigo is cloudy and honey-colored. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, and they’re contagious. Canker sores, which aren’t contagious, are ulcers that occur in the soft tissues inside your mouth, places where cold sores don’t occurCold sores are caused by the herpes virus and are commonly transmitted by direct oral or genital contact where sold sores are present. It is an extremely common virus that the majority of the population will be exposed to at one time or another, though a lot of people do not show any signs or symptoms, such as the usual cold sores around the lips.Sunlight-Many people are very prone to cold sores when they suffer from sunburn or spend too much time outdoors. This is easily remedied. A good sunscreen applied to the lips is your first line of defense against sun-induced cold sores, commonly referred to as fever blisters. The cold sore wound is created by the herpes simplex virus. The herpes virus turns your surface facial nerve cells into virtual virus factories. When the cells are full of new virus, they burst open to release the new clones. This creates that hideous, painful blossom on your lip or nose.Cold and Wind-Here again, a sunscreen comes in handy. Use it liberally and often whenever you’re outdoors. Some people need treatment for the cold sores. Otherwise, they will feel embarrassing with the cold sore. OTC and prescription medicines will speed up the process of healing. They are some painful. You cannot prevent cold sores, but you can get rid of cold sores easily. You can use that ways.Apply acyclovir (take for instance over-the-counter Zovirax cold sore cream) on the cold sore immediately upon discovery of the symptoms. Do this for 5 times daily over the next 5 days. It would help to reduce the duration of the outbreak.Eating a healthy, balanced diet that’s rich in vitamins A, C and E, zinc and iron is also important to keep the immune system strong.Keep your cold sore dry. Regularly wash the area around the cold sore and pat it dry. Cold sore needs moisture and dirt to keep swelling. If they are kept clean and dry, healing will speed up. Shield cold sores with petroleum jelly using cotton swab to avoid swelling.Use Witch Hazel – Witch Hazel is an herb that grows naturally in North America, Japan, and China. An extract of witch hazel is used for various medicinal purposes, including stopping the effects of cold sores. You can likely find it at your local health food store.Alternative treatments for getting rid of cold sores include aromatherapy. Practitioners claim that the healing process is accelerated by the application of volatile plant oils and essential oils, such as rose, tea tree, geranium, lemon balm and bergamot offer psychological and physical benefits to patients; the aroma stimulates the brain, while the constituents of the oil are drawn into the lungs and absorbed by the body.

Herpes lips : Cold sore is an annoying and unsightly skin disease. Also known as fever blisters brought by herpes simplex virus. It will start as a red spot and will start to accumulate moisture making it itchy and irritating. Cold sore is a contagious skin disease that usually appears in the mouth, lips and genitals. It is important to get rid of cold sores permanently to avoid the annoyance and embarrassment brought by this skin disease.”Cold sores” is the most common term used for these hideous, painful and contagious facial sores. Herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2 are the root cause of cold sores. About 80% of cold sores are caused by type 1. Type 2, although primarily the cause of genital herpes sores, is responsible for about 20% of facial cold sores.Cold sores are the nasty, red, fluid-filled blisters that appear on the skin. They are contagious and are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). The mouth, lips, throat and genitals are some of the areas that are easily affected and you must avoid cold sores from spreading as early as possible. Cold sores are not only unsightly but are also itchy and annoying. It may also be accompanied with fever and aches especially to children.Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus and are commonly transmitted by direct oral or genital contact where sold sores are present. It is an extremely common virus that the majority of the population will be exposed to at one time or another, though a lot of people do not show any signs or symptoms, such as the usual cold sores around the lips. The first sign that a cold sore is about to appear is often a tingling or itching sensation in the affected area, followed by the appearance of small fluid-filled blisters; these appear between a several hours to a few days after the tingling first appears and several of the blisters may merge. You should be careful not to spread the infection to other areas of your body and wash your hands frequently. Be particularly careful of your eyes as the virus can cause complications, including loss of vision.Foods that prevent cold sores are rated by how high the ratio of lysine to arginine content. Most foods contain both lysine and arginine. If there is the same amount of both, the ratio is 1 to 1. If there is twice as much lysine as arginine, then the ratio is 2 to 1. This is an excellent ratio for preventing cold sores.Alcohol is the universal germ killer. It can sting but is ideal for destroying cold sore virus. If you use bottled alcohol, apply with a cotton ball. Pre-packaged alcohol swabs are available and most convenient. One down side – alcohol has to be applied frequently. A cold sore treatment that will kill viruses but lasts longer between applications, are oils such as oregano or garlic oil. Both work great, feel good and last a long time. Oregano smells better in public.

Type I virus causes cold sores and normally infects upper waistline tissues. On the other hand, herpes simplex virus type II infects lower waistline body tissues. Herpes simplex viruses type II is known as the genital herpes.

In many cases, attack of viruses infects the body immediately. However, cold sores infection does not show the results that much fast. In the case herpes simplex viruses attacks the body and lays dormant and in the favorable situations they will be activated and reactivate. Dormant herpes viruses come from previous herpes infection. Person with initial infection of the viruses are refer to primary herpetic stomatitis. In these peoples cold sores does not take usual form and therefore person may not relate their initial exposure to the herpes viruses to the recurrent cold sores that they get.

If the person feels that viruses have attack their body then they have to observe first sign of the symptom. This infection can be characterized by fever, headache, irritability, and paining upon swallowing. After this within one-day initial signs of the infection will occur. In this person’s mouth becomes panic and gums becomes strongly reddened. Within two three days of infections number of small blisters will form through out the mouth. In short period, these blisters will rupture and results in to gray color ulcer. These ulcers are panic and irritating and often hinder in eating ability. In particular, time these ulcer will get cure. Standard time period of this ulcer is about 10 to 14 days.

Often this infection can catch the body during childhood. Some times these infections are sub clinical it means that infection runs slightly and are not clear. In this case, it is quite possible that when body is infected person will experience one or two mild mouth sores. Once body is attack by the viruses that will last in the body life long. Therefore, it is hard to remove viruses from the body; however, one can take precautionary measures to prevent them. After the attack whenever favorable condition come viruses will get activate. Therefore to avoid frequent activation of the viruses person have to prevent the triggering conditions.

These viruses activate in more exposure to sunlight, low immune system and illness. Therefore, it is mandatory to apply sunscreen lotion to lips and body before going outside. Person has to avoid stressing conditions like strain, cold and flue. In these cases, the immune system of the body becomes weak and viruses can easily activate. Inadequate amount of sleep and rest stimulates the viruses. Unsatisfactory amount of vitamins and amino acids will bring the viruses therefore to avoid this activation person has to intake proper amount of vitamins and nutrition’s in the daily diet. These are some of the defensive steps that person has to follow after infection.

Herpes lips : Cold sores are small, painful, fluid-filled blisters that usually occur on the lips, gums, or roof of the mouth. They’re caused by the herpes simplex virus and are contagious. There may be pain or tingling one to two days before the cold sores appear. What Causes Cold Sores? Cold sores are caused by a virus called herpes (say: hur-peez). Herpes is one of the most common viral infections in the world. The medical name for the specific virus that causes cold sores is herpes simplex It is important to be aware of what causes cold sores to recur to be able to control their outbreak. What causes cold sores’ recurrence is the presence of the virus in the nerves of an individual. Cold sores actually clear up in an average of two weeks all by themselves without any use of medication. Some dermatologists may prescribe medicines such as skin creams and ointments to help with the healing and to ease the pain and discomfort. Common Signs and Symptoms: Fever, muscle soreness, tiredness, or swollen lymph nodes. Grouped blisters on a red base, usually located on lips or facial area. Cold sores appear when HSV-1 is reactivated later in life. They may occur after a period of illness or stress, poor nutrition or sunlight exposure, or for no known reason. Dental procedures that stretch the lip may occasionally trigger the virus. Making the Diagnosis Cold sores have clear and obvious symptoms, so there’s no need for a battery of tests. In any case, they’re rarely a matter for the doctor. However, you should see a doctor about any redness and pain in the eye, any fever over 100°F (38°C), or if there is thick yellow-white fluid coming from the blisters. This may be a sign of bacteria in the wound. Your doctor can check the fluid from the blisters for the presence of bacteria. Treatment and Prevention Cold Sores There is no known cure for cold sores. Most people don’t need treatment, since they go away on their own, but some medications may be helpful. There are several cold sore remedies that are available without a prescription. These products are usually liquids, ointments, gels, or balms. They can contain lip moisturizers and protectants or anesthetics that help to reduce the pain of cold sores and prevent cracking and excessive drying of the lips. Your diet plays such a big role in your health, not just for cold sore prevention, but in every area of your health. Take care of your body by eating a good diet and taking a daily multi vitamin. Look for vitamins that have Lysine in them as this has been shown to help with cold sore symptoms. Try to keep the fast food to a minimum. With an antiviral cream, apply it as soon as you feel a cold sore coming on since the sooner you start treatment the more likely you are to prevent the cold sore developing further. Rub the antiviral cream onto the cold sore as often as instructed by the directions. Some anti-virals need to be applied 5 times a day and some as often as every one to two hours.

Herpes lips : COLD SORES, common name for Herpes labialis (also known as “Orolabial herpes”) is an infection of the lip by herpes simplex virus. In many cases, it causes small blisters or sores on or around the mouth that are commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters. When the viral infection affects both face and mouth, the broader term “orofacial herpes” is used to describe the condition, whereas the term “herpetic stomatitis” is used to specifically describe infection of the mouth. Sores associated with herpes labialis typically heal within 2-3 weeks, & there are several cold sore remedies which can be tried at home but the virus that causes them is not removed from the body. The herpes virus infects and becomes dormant in the facial nerves, following orofacial infection, periodically reactivating (in symptomatic people) to create sores in the same area of the mouth or face that the original infection occurred.

To know the (http://www.worldwidehealth.com)cold sore treatment you have to first understand its cause. There are one-time symptoms you get when you are initially infected with the herpes simplex virus. They are sore throat, fever, headaches and overall flu-like feeling. These symptoms only last about two or three days.

Here is a brief roundup of the main cold sore symptoms.

1. INITIAL WARNING OF IMPENDING COLD SORES

Your first indication of a possible sore is quite mild and often ignored. This first symptom will be noticeable in the area where you get cold sores. These include a slight tingling and itching sensation.

Your target area may feel dry. If you have lip balm, you will desire to use it.

You are aware that something is afoot beneath the skin. You are right. The herpes simplex virus is at the surface and infecting many cells for the purpose of replication.

Applying ice, or anything cold, at this time will provide comfort. Also, it could discourage the herpes simplex virus – or stop it completely. But if not then you need cold sore treatment.

2. BUMPS AND SWELLING

Some painful, tiny, red bumps will form. Sometimes they are mistaken for acne pimples. Then the affected cells will become swollen with the new virus particles.

Some fever and headaches are common at this point. There are lymph glands under the jaw on each side. Usually the gland nearest the sore will inflame and enlarge as it fights the virus.

3. OPEN WOUND APPEARS

Once the cells are full, they are destroyed, leaving a gaping wound. Now your sore will weep a clear liquid because your body tries frantically to wash the virus away.

This can be quite a painful period. Cold sores, oral herpes and fever blisters are created on the end of the nerves. When the sore bursts open, the nerve endings are exposed.

You are very contagious for the entire duration of cold sores, but this is the worst time. The fluid weeping from the sore is absolutely swarming with fresh virus looking for a new home.

4. COLD SORE TREATMENT

Once the sore breaks open, it begins the healing period. You should notice improvement every day now.

Your body will scab-over the wound, and starts to replace the damaged cells underneath. If the scab becomes dry, it will crack when you smile or chew. This hurts a lot, and can slow down the healing process.

To help keep the scab soft and pliable, apply virgin olive oil.

The crust will last approximately a week, depending on your healing speed. When it finally disappears, there will be fresh new skin underneath.

You will notice a redness to the area. This means it is still healing below the skin. There is still herpes simplex virus lurking around – making you contagious until the redness disappears.

Your previously swollen lymph glands should be back to normal now.

The final healing period seems to drag on forever. You are feeling much better and looking OK but are still infectious.

And, if you are not cautious and take suitable cold sore remedies, cold sores can reoccur quickly during this final healing process.

Another cold sore treatment involves the use of lemon balm tea.

These tea bags can be found for cheap anywhere you find specialty teas. If the lemon balm is not “stand alone” but in a blend with other herbs, that will usually be just fine too – as long as lemon balm is the primary.

Doctors explained that the ydiscovered lemon balm herb has anti-viral properties and is a natural cold sore treatment. They took a 16 – 20 ounce container of bottled water, then brewed a strong batch of lemon balm tea using one tea bag per 4 ounces – then froze the tea bags – using these in place of the plain ice cold sore treatment.

There are many other reported highly effective cold sore remedies that you can try. These include tea tree oil, dmso, olive leaf oil, lysine, zinc, yogurt, aloe vera and more. Lysine and zinc do not work well applied directly because the size of their molecules are too large for effective absorption. Lysine and zinc are better used as internal support supplements.

Another great virus killer for surface use is alcohol. It can sting, if you have not numbed it with ice first, but it is the gold standard for keeping a wound clean and reducing infections.

Use a cotton ball or tissue to apply it. You do not want to contaminate your fingers and spread it to someone else or to another location on yourself.

To speed healing even faster, try using some fresh sap from the Aloe Vera plant leaf. Just break off an inch or so of a leaf and apply the sap to the wound. Be sure to use the alcohol, or some other germ killer first. Aloe can heal right over an infection.

Yes – it is quite simple but it is a well proven and powerful cold sore treatment.

With such information in your hand you might as well go in for a free sign up for an alternative therapist at various health information directories like World Wide Health. Certainly you are almost a specialist yourself on cold sore!

Herpes lips : Cold sore is called herpes labialis on medical term. The infection caused by the herpes simplex type I virus. It leads to the development of a small patch of erythema then a vesicle that erodes appears and usually itching and soreness on the skin of the mouth, lips or lip area. The first symptoms usually appear within 1 or 3 weeks after contact.Cold sore is contagious and once you are infected with it, the virus remains with you for a life. The virus stays dormant most of the time in the nerve cells on your body, until some of certain things can cause recurrence outbreak.Cold sores or fever blisters can be annoying, not to mention unsightly. Such sores are the products of the herpes simplex virus. They will begin as red dots, then start puffing out, all itchy and tingling and cold sore swelling will take place. As the blister gathers moisture and water, it gets larger, and even more embarrassingly conspicuous. Cold sores actually come from any contact of the herpes simplex virus with your mouth, perhaps early in your childhood. The virus picked out a host cell and moved into it. The cell, perhaps a nerve, then suffered to become the puppet of the virus, as the viral DNA gave orders to the host to produce more of the herpes simplex virus.Cold sores are blisters that commonly appear on the external edges of the mouth, on the lips and nose caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1). These are painful blisters that may last a few days or weeks and highly contagious. If the cold sore is not bothersome, some people let the virus takes its course and leave the cold sore alone to heal on its own. Unfortunately, most of the time cold sore is annoying due to its ugly appearance, pains and discomforts. These are the reasons why sufferers tend to find ways to relieve a cold sore.Home remedy cold sore treatmentLysine – This is a very popular supplement that you can take at the first signs of a cold sore. Lysine is known to shorten the length of a cold sore by three to four days. When you first feel the tingling or notice a cold sore take 1000 mg. 2 to 3 times a day.Sage Tea – Drinking sage tea like lysine helps shorten the length of a cold sore and keeps the simplex virus from spreading to other parts of the body.Ice – Cold sore virus like warm wet places to grow and holding a ice cube right on the cold sore will make the simplex virus go back into hibernation and keep the sore from spreading.Prescription medications from your doctor, he may recommend you to take the antiviral medicines. It would costly and antiviral medicine are not suitable for everbody also risk negative side effect. Antiviral medicines work best if you effective take it when you think the virus is just starting to come back, before you see the blister. Antiviral medicines are probably the most effective cold sore cure to stopping the virus while using the medication, but after you stopped the treatment, they do not prevent recurrence.

Herpes lips : Herpes simplex virus (HSV) can cause infections that affect the mouth, the face, the genitals, the skin, the buttocks, and the anal area. This article will concentrate on non-genital herpes. Many people acquire the virus and have no symptoms. For others, painful blisters appear near the area where the virus entered the body. Typically, the blisters heal completely but reappear when least expected (or desired). In between attacks, the virus hides deep in nerve roots. When herpes simplex lesions appear in their most common location, around the mouth and lips, people often refer to them as “cold sores” and “fever blisters.”CausesFever blister is caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), a virus that passes from person to person by direct contact with infected skin or secretions, including saliva. The sores usually appear as clusters of tiny blisters on the lip. HSV-1 can cause similar, but smaller, blisters that rapidly become ulcers inside the mouth on the gums and palate (roof of the mouth).A number of factors weaken the body’s defenses and trigger an outbreak of herpes simplex. These factors include emotional stress, fever, illness, injury, and overexposure to the sun. Many women also only experience recurrences during certain phases of their menstrual cycles. One study indicates that susceptibility to herpes recurrences is inherited. Research is currently underway to uncover how exactly “trigger” factors interact with the immune system and the virus to prompt a recurrence of fever blisters. Most people infected with the type 1 herpes simplex virus became infected before they were 10 years old. The virus usually invades the moist membrane cells of the lips, throat or mouth. In most people, the initial infection causes no symptoms. About 15 percent of patients, however, develop many fluid-filled blisters inside and outside the mouth 3 to 5 days after they are infected with the virus. These may be accompanied by fever, swollen neck glands and general aches. Symptoms When you feel the tingling, burning or itching sensation, rub juice from aloe plant on the affected area. Dab of aloe gel is effective too. Aloe will begin the healing process immediately and not allow the sore to grow. The virus is highly contagious when fever blisters are present. It is spread by kissing. Children become infected by contact with someone who has a fever blister and then they spread the virus by rubbing their cold sore and touching other children. A person with fever blisters should be careful not to touch the blisters and spread the virus to new sites, such as the eyes or genitals.A primary herpes infection — the first time a person is infected — causes fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, painful swelling and open sores on the gums and inside the cheeks, and a painful throat infection that is often mistaken for “strep throat,” or another form of bacterial infection in the throat. These symptoms usually begin approximately a week after exposure to someone with HSV-1.TreatmentThere currently is no cure for recurrent fever blisters. A number of medications can relieve some of the pain and discomfort associated with the sores, however, including numbing ointments applied to the blisters, antibiotics that control any occurring secondary infections and ointments that soften the crusts of the sores.

Herpes lips : Cold sores also called fever blisters. Cold sores are caused by a viral infection that attacks the skin and nervous system. . They are sometimes confused with impetigo, which usually develops between the nose and upper lip. Fluid that weeps from impetigo is cloudy and honey-colored. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, and they’re contagious. Canker sores, which aren’t contagious, are ulcers that occur in the soft tissues inside your mouth, places where cold sores don’t occur.Cold sores are usually caused by herpes virus, which can lay dormant in the body and becomes active later when something triggers it. Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 are two strains of the Herpes virus family, Herpesviridae, which cause infections in humans. HSV establishes latency, during which the virus is present in the cell bodies of nerves which innervate the area of original outbreak. During reactivation, virus is produced in the cell and transported outwardly via the nerve cell’s axon to the skin.

Herpes infections are marked by painful, watery blisters in the skin or mucous membranes (such as the mouth or lips) or on the genitals. People can catch HSV-1 by kissing a person with a cold sore or sharing a drinking glass or utensils, so it’s easy to see why there are so many cold sores around. The blisters resemble those seen in Chickenpox an infection caused by a third member of the alpha-Herpesviridae subfamily, Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), also known as Human Herpes Virus 3 (HHV-3). Lesions heal with a crudescent scab, the hallmark of herpetic disease. HSV is generally transmitted by direct contact of lips or genitals when the sores are present, or also when no sores are present (known as viral shedding). HSV can be present in semen, vaginal fluids, and saliva. In addition, herpes may be transmitted during childbirth, which can be fatal to the infant. The immature immune system of the child is unable to defend against the virus and even if treated, infection can result in brain damage.

HSV-1 is so common that most Americans get infected with it, although many never have any symptoms. Around 1 in 5 people in the UK have frequently recurring cold sores. Some people never get them, either because they do not have the virus or because it never becomes active. Kids who get infected with HSV-1 may get cold sores occasionally for the rest of their lives That’s because even after the sores themselves dry up and go away, the virus stays in the body, waiting around for another time to come out and cause more sores. Cold sores will usually go away on their own within a few days.Treatment may include topical creams or ointments or sometimes antiviral medicines (such as acyclovir or famciclovir). Treatment may reduce the duration of the cold sores by only 1 to 2 days. Using a medication may shorten the duration of cold sores and decrease your pain.

Treatment of Cold Sores

1. Drug called acyclovir (Zovirax), which may help shorten the length of the outbreak.

2. Good hand washing when a sore is present will help prevent the spread of the infection.

3. Treatment may include topical creams or ointments or sometimes antiviral medicines (such as acyclovir or famciclovir).

4. Treat any pain by taking paracetamol or applying witch hazel to the sore. A topical (applied to the skin) anaesthetic

5. Avoid salty, spicy or acidic foods and drinks, which may irritate the sore.

6. Eating a healthy, balanced diet that’s rich in vitamins A, C and E, zinc and iron is also important to keep the immune system strong.

Home remedies of Cold Sores

1.Ice is a very good home remedy for cold sores. Rub ice on the infected skin for few minutes, repeat this every hour.

2. Apply a tea bag for few minutes on the blisters, repeat this every hour. One can also consider pressing a warm tea bag on the blisters for approximately 30 minutes.

3. Applying Witch Hazel on sores will give you some relief.

4. Avoid acidic and salty foods. Foods such as chocolates, peanuts, grains, peas, seeds, oatmeal and whole-wheat are high in arginine, therefore they should be restricted.

5. Avoid tea and coffee. Eat vitamin rich diet.

6. Applying sunscreen to your lips may help prevent sun-induced recurrences of cold sores.

7. Change your toothbrush.

8. Coconut Oil – Take 100ml of coconut oil, 2ml of dettol, and 3ml or carbolic acid and mix them together. Apply twice daily directly on your cold sore. Some people say this formula also works on boils and mosquito bites.

9. Take a leaf from an aloe vera plant and rub the liquid from it onto your cold sore blister

10. Tea Tree Oil is the best home remedy for cold sores. This is a drink that contains tea tree oil, herbal sage, and violet. These ingredients are mixed together with a couple sage leaves and ginger powder, and put in with a cup of boiling water. Drink this 2-3 times a day and within a couple of days your cold sore will be gone.

11. Ibuprofen is a useful home remedy for cold sores as well as additional bodily ailments.

12. Take 3 acidophilus pills in the morning and 3 in the evening and it will start to dry out and clear up. If you suffer from frequent ones, take 2 a day to keep them away.
